Christmas Create

 This week we have been working on Christmas activities. Here is my work. I made a card and some poem slides.

 

Te Whare Tapa Wha

 This year we have been learning about Te Whare Tapa Wha and how it helps us. We made a slide to show the things we do to help us for each part. We need to keep all parts of our whare strong to be happy, healthy and safe.

Term 4 Basic Facts

 We enjoy practising our basic facts each day using Prototec.  We also try and beat the clock on paper throughout the year.  Here is my Term 4 results.  I am proud of my stage 5 because it was hard.

Pet Day - Learn Create Share

 Last week we had Pet Day at school.  As part of our reading and writing  we got to get creative to show  what we know about looking after animals.  Here is the work I created.  I worked with Waiahi.  I enjoyed the whole slide.  I think what I created will be useful if we come across a dog fight.

Caving and Glow worms work

 We learned lots when we were on our camp and wanted to share these with Team Maunga before they go on their trip.  For reading and writing we have been busy creating things to help Team Maunga.  Here is my work on caving.

Thank you Letter

A few weeks ago, instead of our camp to Coopers Beach, we went on a day trip to Kawakawa and had a sleepover at school. Our awesome parent helpers came along to supervise us. Here is a letter I wrote to say thank you.

Life Education

 Last week we visited the Life Education Caravan.  We were learning about Te Whare Tapa Wha and Resilience.  Here is a google draw we made up to help us think and remember what resilience is.

Using a Writing Rubric.

This week in writing we have been looking at recounts and how we can improve our writing.  We started looking at our writing rubrics and understanding how to find what level pieces of writing are.

Greats and Grands

 Today was meant to be Greats and Grands day at our school.  This has been cancelled for this year due to COVID-19.  We wanted to still share some writing about our amazing grandparents.  Here is my work.

Ngā āhua shapes

 We have been learning to describe and name shapes in Maths using their Te reo names and asking questions in Te reo Māori. Here is some of my work.

Scratch meet google meet

Over the last week I have been working on a scratch project that helps my audience understand how to use google meet effectively when in a class call. We had to add our voices to the scratch project so when someone clicks the icon they will here my voice.

We have been Learning about Kangaroos. They have 5 limbs because they balance on their tail. To work out the problem we had to multiply and divide by 5.

There are 20 pigs on the farm and there are 4 pens.  

If there is at least 1 pig in each pen, how many different combinations can you find?

I used Lego to do this maths problem. I hope you like it.

I used the Lego as my 20 pigs and the ice cream containers lid as the 4 paddocks. I moved the lego pigs around to find different combinations 

Team Awa Olympic Games

 In Team Awa we have been learning about the Olympic Games and using this in our maths.  In class we had our own mini Olympic games to help us explore measurement.   Here is a recount I wrote about this.

Digital Art

 This term we have been learning some new techniques for creating digital art pieces. Here is my artwork from this term. 

I like my pop art because I liked doing the pictures

I like my kiwi texture because you can shape the texture. 

I learnt how to have good colours but not boring colours.

Hut Movie Making

 In team Awa we had an outdoor learning day. We got to go outside and make huts around the back. We were learning about how movie making is like writing a story and that we needed to take different types of movie shots. Here is some examples of what  I learned.

 Yesterday we said farewell to Mrs C, our librarian. Here is a card I made to say goodbye.

Writing with Hooks

We have been learning to add hooks into our writing to make our stories interesting.  We can use a hook to start our paragraphs which hooks in our reader.
